Telangana police seize ganja, arrest drug peddlers, tackle theft ahead of New Year

Telangana’s Cyberabad police have made several major arrests and seizures related to drug trafficking and theft. The police in the Chandanagar and Gachibowli areas of Hyderabad, Telangana, seized large quantities of illegal substances, including 57 kg of ganja, 18 grams of MDMA, one gram of OG Kush, LSD paper, seven mobile phones, and a car and bike used in the illicit activities.
On one occasion, the Chandanagar police, along with the Balanagar Special Operations Team (SOT), intercepted a Scorpio vehicle involved in the illegal ganja trade. The gang responsible for trafficking the drugs had brought the ganja from Odisha and was distributing it in the city. The modus operandi involved two individuals riding motorcycles ahead of the car, acting as “pilots” to clear the way, while the main traffickers transported the drugs in the vehicle. Police arrested seven people in connection with this operation, though one individual is still on the run.
In another bust, Gachibowli police raided a drug party at the Kanha Boutique Hotel in Kondapur. Four individuals were arrested, including two young women, in possession of 18 grams of MDMA, one gram of OG Kush, LSD paper, and six mobile phones. The drugs were reportedly brought from Bangalore. One of the arrested, Kanha Mohanty, a dancer involved in Dee program performances, was identified as a key drug peddler.
Meanwhile, RC Puram police made significant headway in tackling thefts, arresting five members of a gang responsible for thefts in buses, metro trains, and MMTS trains. The gang has been linked to at least 30 thefts, with two members still absconding.
Looking ahead to the New Year celebrations, Madhapur DCP Vineeth PC warned that strict action would be taken against those caught using drugs at party venues. Event organizers have been reminded to obtain permission by December 15 to ensure compliance with the law during the festivities. The police are closely monitoring these events to prevent the spread of illegal substances and ensure a safe and secure environment for all.
